Hokkaido University and the next day
To continue last post, when I visited Sapporo in Golden Week, I visited Hokkaido University, Hokudai. Hokudai is a national university located near Sapporo station. It was one of seven Imperial Universities in early 1900s. I visited Hokudai for the first time ever. Hokudai have large campus. Everyone can walk around in Hokudai campus. There are some famous spots in Hokudai such as an avenue of poplars, Dr. Clark's statue. William Smith Clark, Dr. Clark, was American teacher and educator. His phrase "boys, be ambitious" is famous and impressive. There are several Dr. Clark's statues in Sapporo.
I found a colorful duck in the campus. |

My grandfather was from Hokkaido. His niece and probably his brother were once teaching law in Hokudai. They were lawyer. I think there are my relatives in Hokkaido even though I don't keep in touch with them.
The next day I went to Hitsujigaoka Observation Hill. From Fukusumi subway station, it takes about fifteen minutes by bus to Hitsujigaoka Observation Hill. There is also Sapporo Dome and agricultural research center in Hitsujigaoka.
I will write about Hitsujigaoka Observation Hill on next post. Thanks for reading and see you next time!
